Miralex Mixed With Gatorade

Minicoupe shrimp, capers and dill

The holidays: time of revelry and excesses. Ah! if my cream couch could talk, he would long to tell, because he was the victim repeatedly, the eternal triangle made up of greedy stepmother, Gendre of greedy and Bibi, that is to say, I Similarly, Lou!

At the holidays at home, I do more than serve the bruschetta appetizer because Belle mom never forgets to shed light on my couch.

Also, my son is allowed to sit on the couch with a glass of wine. And this ban, it does not come from me, but my whole family knows, like me, he will reverse his qu'irrémédiablement glass of wine in any first or third glass: as sure as Christmas is December 25. And if he did that overthrowing a little bit! Noooo! this is not just a few drops that escape from his glass, but almost all the content that splashes into a fine rain, dozens of places, not just my sofa, but for sure the clothes of the person sitting beside him.

And then suddenly the conversation took another turn: spotting. Everyone goes there for his suggestions during the multitude of small tasks insidious still encrusted more deeply into the fibers of various affected tissues. During the last overflow Épouxcurien took drastic measures to remove the couch, he used the carpet stain remover. Result: it has faded, in part, the fabric ... and that full party!

But I try to remain calm while calmly sipping my glass of wine ... I finished, too, by overthrowing. But unlike Gendre greedy, my collateral damage is limited: I spilled some on the couch and a little on my clothes. Over the years, I take lessons and I adopt a preventive attitude: I sit on chairs added to the lounge reception.

But the best of the best in terms of overflow, it is greedy girl who it happened, but her home when she received friends at the holidays. One of his guests, sitting on the floor playing with children, had mistakenly filed his glass of wine on the floor. Oh! Error! My daughter arrived in the living room hung with his feet, glass of wine you can imagine the rest! There was wine everywhere, on the guests, the floor and also on the walls! Even the doll, received a gift, was sprayed! The total, what!

But never mind, it is not the excesses that will prevent us from celebrating and having fun. And it's probably because of all that one day I decided to present my starters "at risk" in pretty little bowls of bread that I make, with the application, just days before Christmas each year! Here is the recipe to achieve, among others, a delicious couch (!) Which is now part of the tradition in my family!

Minicoupe shrimp, capers and dill
For 20 Minicoupe:
5-7 slices white bread (white bread sandwich square is ideal because it is thin) 1 tbsp
soup (or little) olive oil 26 capers
in vinegar, drained
quarter cup (50g) light mayonnaise (this is what I took, but the regular mayo is correct) 2 tablespoons
tsp fresh dill, chopped finely 1 tbsp
teaspoon lemon juice
1 / 4 c. teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
5 thin slices of smoked salmon (or 40 small shrimp, as the Matane shrimp)
1 piece of 3 inches (8 cm)
English cucumber fresh dill for garnish

Remove crusts from bread slices. Using a rolling pin, flatten the slices of bread. With a punch of 2 inches (5 cm) in diameter, cut into slices 20 slices of bread and go back to the roller really flatten.

Using a brush, brush the sliced bread on both sides with oil. Put minimuffins in a pan, not oiled, pressing firmly with fingers to give them a nice little cup shaped.

Bake in center of preheated 350 degrees F (180 degrees C) for 12 minutes or until bread is golden and crisp. Immediately unmold the bread slices and let cool on plates. (You can prepare in advance Minicoupe and put them in an airtight container or freezer bag. They will keep for up to 5 days at room temperature and up to 1 month in freezer. Just before serving, reheat in oven give them a little crispy.)

Book Capers 20. Coarsely chop the remaining capers (capers or 6) and place in a small bowl. Add mayonnaise, dill, lemon juice and pepper. Mix with a fork.

If using salmon, cut slices of salmon into strips of 1.5 x 0.5 in. (3.5 x 1.25 cm) and roll them in order to give them as a rosette. Cut the cucumber into quarters lengthwise, then thinly sliced. (You can prepare the mixture of mayonnaise, shrimp or salmon, and cucumber in advance and cover. They will keep up 8 hours in refrigerator.)

Put about ½ c. Tea preparation for mayonnaise in each Minicoupe bread. Add a rosette of salmon (or 2 shrimp), 2 slices of cucumber, capers and a sprig of fresh dill 1.

Cake Queen Elizabeth

When doing Internet research about the origin of the cake Queen Elizabeth, we do not get clear answers. Everyone has their own story. However, the step-by-step recipe is unanimous in not providing cherry preserved in the dough. Hey! Well, the recipe for Grandma Belle Gourmet taken up by my mom, and realized that I enjoyed, for years, including this addition, we appreciate because it is so completely festive and tasty!

Queen Elizabeth The cake is a cake you love for festivities, because he looks like a fruitcake without the expense and all the work it requires.

But I think what I like is to serve the day after Christmas, you know, the next day when all adults were lying down in the wee hours at sunrise and they want a good coffee strong!

Then around 13 pm if you present to all those who spent the night here, a bowl of vegetable soup you've cooked three days ago, accompanied by toasted English muffin, spread with cream cheese, on which you filed smoked salmon, a few thin slices red onion (!) and several capers, you only get smiles at your table. And if you finish the meal the day after the day before by a piece of cake Queen Elizabeth, you will reach new heights. Because the next day, do not make it complicated: we need only make delicious!

Thank you, my dear mother, all these wonderful brunch the next day, that thou hast so often prepared!

Cake Queen Elizabeth
10 to 12 servings

For the cake:
1 cup (200 g) packed with dates
¾ cup (190 ml) boiling water ½
cup (120 g) salted butter or salted
1 cup (190 g) sugar 1 egg beaten

1 ½ cups (200 g) unbleached all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon organic
teaspoon baking soda 1 tsp
teaspoon baking powder (baking powder) ¼ c.
teaspoon salt
1 tsp teaspoon vanilla
¾ cup (90 g) walnut pieces or parts (it is a little larger than walnuts chopped) 1 cup
(180 g) candied cherries, halved (attention, it is not maraschino cherries in a pot; cherries are the same as those used for fruit cakes)

For the frosting: ½ cup
(60 g) of filaments of sweet coconut, lightly 3 tablespoons packed
unsalted butter 3 tablespoons
tablespoons packed brown sugar to the extent (in Quebec, this product refers to a finely ground sugar cane, which was kept moisture. This may sound like wet sand. That sugar contributes to a soft texture to the preparation. In Europe, we can not associate it with sugar cane that bears the name of brown sugar. The Web offers alternatives to our American brown sugar, but I'll let you do the research, because it was not there, I can not really see what it is.)
1 tsp tablespoons milk or cream

Cake:
Put boiling water in a bowl and soak the dates.

In a large bowl, beat together with electric mixer the butter, sugar and egg prior beat with a fork. Blend 1 minute or two, medium speed / high. Book.

In another bowl, sift flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Book.

Drain dates over a small bowl to catch water. Cut dates in half. Book.

Stir in flour and water soaking wet mixture to the dates contained in the bowl in three batches. Mix with electric mixer after each addition.

With a spatula, turn the file dates, nuts and cherries, taking care to distribute the fruit in the mixture. Pour in a loaf pan (22 x 12 x 7 cm) buttered and floured. First, bake at 350 degrees F (180 degrees C) for 40 minutes. Then lower the oven temperature to 325 degrees F (163 degrees C) and bake for 35 more minutes, taking care to place a piece of aluminum foil on the cake to prevent it too dark. The cake is ready when a bamboo skewer, inserted in center comes out clean.

Frosting:
In a small saucepan, boil over low heat for 3 minutes, the mixture of coconut, butter, brown sugar and milk.

When the cake is cooked, remove from the oven and, without unmold, pour the glaze over the surface. Put the cake in the oven under the broiler (grill ), until the glaze is bubbly. Remove cake from oven. Should be monitored because the boiling icing occurs quickly.

When the cake is cooled, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. The cake is now ready to be frozen, but before it is important to place into a freezer bag of quality.

Pour 1 tablespoon tablespoons of water in the pan containing the fruit and cook up 5 to 6 minutes in microwave. Normally, after the cooking time the fruit should be tender and have stewed.

With piloir to potatoes, mash the squash. Book.

Mixer food processor for several minutes, fruits and 3 2 / 3 cups (915 ml) mashed squash. Freeze in portions individual. Here's my method: I deposited the required amount in the middle with plastic wrap and then into a small package. I then placed a few packages (but not too much so that freezing occurs quickly) in a freezer bag and I will remove the air as possible, by pressing on the bag before sealing it and placing it in the freezer .
